All of my work is a spiritual connection with my life, which has gone through many changes and looks like a patchwork.  It is always an attempt to combine imagery and abstraction, an ongoing striving to communicate while going deeper.

My latest work is small acrylic paintings like icons of birds and bears. There will also be some trees.  my feeling, as always, is that nature is sacred and endangered.

A solo exhibition of this work is October 4-29 at the Gallery on Fifth in Calumet. Everyone is invited!

I also have some work the Community Arts Center in Hancock.  There are also some drawings and animal sculptures in the Moonbird Gallery in Door County, Wisconsin.

My remaining oil paintings and much of my recent works are in my sister's gallery in Anaconda, Montana, the Stop Light Gallery.

My studio is now in my house at 1100 Hill Street, Hancock, MI 49930.

I have decided that one way I can share my work is to have giclee prints made.  Many of the  larger images that are of interest could possibly be made into an archival print, about 15x17", for $150.  Please email me if you are interested.  joycekoskenmaki@icloud.com

Artwork : Lynx and Door   << Return to other artworks

oil on linen 34''x24''
The lynx is an endangered animal who lives in the north. He is hiding in a safe place. The symbols on the wall are protective runes.
I like his feet.

This painting is in the permanent collection of Northern Michigan University.
