Animal Paintings
This series began a long time ago after a sojourn in Lapland in 1995, where I felt a deep connection with nature. I had grown up in the North Woods of Michigan where animals in the forests where we lived provided a living for us. My father was a trapper, so I was aware at an early age of the precarious life they have. I continue to feel a connection to these animals.

Buffalo
oil on canvas42''x47''
The buffalo is a protector spirit, ensuring that you will always have what you need. It has done that for me since I painted it. Now it is time to let it go.
It is now in the permanent collection of Keweenaw Bay Tribal College in L'Anse, Michigan. The Buffalo is one of their spirit animals.
